  3. Kids Say the Darnedest Things Pt. 2

So, this one time, my mom goes out of town for the weekend and we invite our 12-year-old twin cousins to stay the night. One sleeps upstairs in my mum’s room, and the other sleeps downstairs.

My sister and I put the boys to bed and a few hours later she goes to bed too. So I’m awake, and Stumbling, (having deep thoughts and epiphanies) and all of a sudden I hear my cousin (the one in my mom’s room) yelling(in his sleep):

    “You’re a genius.”

    Made my night.

  4. Kids Say the Darnedest Things

So, a few weeks back, my sister and some cousins were participating in the “Weekend to End Women’s Cancers”, which is a 60km walk over the course of 2 days. You have to raise $2000 just to participate.

I wasn’t a participant, but I’m definitely thinking about it next year. My job this year was to look after my cousins’ kids (ages 3 & 5). My mum and I would drive them to different checkpoints during the walk so that they could cheer on their parents. They got dressed up and held signs and cheered as their parents walked by. Adorable.

So, at the lunch checkpoint, both girls have a sandwich, some fruit and, as a special treat, each gets her own freezie. Not one of those wimpy ones, no no. They each get a JUMBO freezie.

This makes them ecstatic, and they’re eating them with little smiles on their faces. Naturally, all that sugar in a small child’s body is going to get them a wee bit hyper. The oldest one starts bouncing around a little bit, and spills blue freezie on her dress. (Now, I was worried that there would be a stain, but thank goodness there wasn’t.) She stops bouncing, looks down at her dress, looks up at me and says:

“Well. This is just going to have to go in the wash.”
